Version 5.0 of SPO suite offers new "what-if" scenario management, updated dashboard for planners

Philadelphia — June 23, 2005 — MCA Solutions this week rolled out the latest version of its Service Planning and Optimization (SPO) software suite, adding improved optimization capabilities and a new dashboard for planners, among other updated features.

Version 5.0 of the service parts planning solution offers companies the ability to plan for differentiated service. Customers can drive an inventory plan to allow differentiated service, including varying equipment uptime agreements by location, customer and equipment type.

With "what-if" scenario management, the solution allows planning managers to analyze a range of business scenarios and more rapidly determine the business impact of changing parameters in the service supply network, MCA said.

In addition, the solution provider said that version 5.0 offers better planning answers more quickly by optimizing performance across the extended service supply chain. This includes deep bills of materials, as well as supplier and customer locations, driving the "efficient frontier" of both simple and complex supply chains and ensuring the highest service level at the lowest cost, according to MCA.

Elsewhere, SPO 5.0 lets planners view all relevant information about a part in one place. This "parts central" approach is an outgrowth of user feedback; the single-view reporting and risk-based prioritization of workflow designed to help planners make the right decisions faster, the solution provider said.

Finally, the latest iteration of the solution offers readiness-based sparing with type/model/series service targets. In defense applications, SPO 5.0 allows multi-indentured, multi-echelon (MIME) readiness-based sparing capability with the ability to set service targets (availability) at a global level, by site or location, or by equipment type/model/series.

"Our customers continue to drive value in the most sophisticated and competitive service supply chains," said Bob Salvucci, president and CEO of MCA. "This new product reflects their emerging need for tools that profitably address an extremely broad array of increasingly complex service supply chain challenges. And for the first time, military and commercial needs are being addressed in a single solution, with a new COTS package that performs readiness-based sparing with type/model/series customer service targets."

Version 5 of MCA Solutions' SPO suite is available now. MCA customers include Boeing, Rockwell Collins, Lockheed Martin and Cisco Systems, among others.
