Third-party contract packaging and distribution company to use Provia's 3PL solution to manage multiple customer inventories at DC

Grand Rapids, MI — August 23, 2005 — Custom Goods, a third-party contract packaging and distribution company, has selected a third-party logistics (3PL) order management and warehouse management solution from Provia Software to manage multiple customer inventories in its warehouses.

Offering such value-added services as clam shell packaging, shrink wrapping, point-of-purchase assembly and kitting, Custom Goods operates a 600,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Carson, Calif.

Designed to manage multiple client inventories in one or many facilities and to control complex, dynamic customer and billing requirements, Provia's FourSite solution enables 3PLs and public outsourced warehousing companies to sort, report and track product orders and product handling costs by customer, and automatically produce the appropriate billing, according to the solution provider.

With the implementation of FourSite, Custom Goods will be looking to coordinate and organize its most complicated warehouse processes with a single software solution.

"As a 3PL, our clients have a wide range of packaging and warehousing requirements," said Tony Gregory, CEO of Custom Goods. "Our clients also have their own unique billing scenarios, so we needed a robust warehouse solution to address all of these issues and maximize our warehouse resources. Unlike other supply chain execution solutions on the market, Provia's 3PL solution is designed to handle multiple client inventories in one or many facilities within in the same WMS database and has the critical order management component for complex, dynamic customer and billing requirements. FourSite was the ideal solution for Custom Goods."

Custom Goods' clients can communicate directly with the Provia solution via electronic data interchange (EDI), by fax, manual entry or through a Provia's Web-based order entry feature. Billing and invoicing for all product handling costs (receiving, storage, labeling, etc.) are controlled by the Provia solution and applied to the specific customer based on the negotiated agreements Custom Goods has with each client.

"With Provia, we will be able to maintain a higher level of inventory accuracy for each of our clients as information is tracked down to the individual item level," continued Custom Goods' Gregory. "We can combine like product within the same warehouse or location without loss of ownership or product visibility. With the radio frequency (RF) capabilities and production reporting functionality of the Provia solution, we'll be able to respond better to the ever changing value-add and warehousing needs of our clients."
