Provider said template addresses unique 3PL warehouse management requirements

Grand Rapids, Mich. — August 26, 2005 — Provia Software, a provider of order-to-delivery supply chain execution software, is now offering a third-party logistics (3PL) order management (OMS)/warehouse management system (WMS) request for proposal (RFP) scoring template.

The company said the template is a tool to help 3PL providers select the right OMS/WMS solution for their needs.

Based on a non-biased scoring system, Provia said the new RFP template can help 3PLs evaluate vendor responses to industry-specific functionality. In addition, the template is editable, so 3PLs can tailor the template to meet their individual logistics requirements.

Provia has shown a good amount of emphasis in targeting the needs of the 3PL market, said Evan Armstrong, vice president of Armstrong & Associates Inc., a 3PL analyst firm. This new 3PL WMS RFP template emphasizes this and provides 3PLs with an objective way of comparing multiple OMS/WMS providers.

Paul Crist, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Provia, explained Provia's view that selecting the right OMS/WMS is critical to a 3PLs success. "With 3PLs accounting for more than 50 percent of our customer base, we understand that they have an ever-changing array of customer requirements. They need an OMS/WMS that can meet their needs today, and be flexible enough to help them grow. That is why we developed this 3PL-specific template to help them through the arduous process of selecting the right solution for their needs.
