Companies implement compliance solution for Target Stores' supplier Nordic Ware

Richardson, TX — September 9, 2005 — GlobeRanger, a provider of radio frequency identification (RFID), mobility and sensor-based software solutions, and SoftBrands, an enterprise software provider for manufacturing and hospitality businesses, today announced an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partnership for RFID solutions. SoftBrands is using Globe Ranger's iMotion edgeware platform to extend its existing solutions for RFID.

Nordic Ware is the first SoftBrands' customer to implement an RFID compliance solution based on the iMotion platform. Nordic Ware is a family-owned, American manufacturer of kitchenware products, including the original Bundt pan and the Micro-go-round. Nordic Ware installed this RFID solution at its distribution center in Minneapolis, Minn., in August 2005 to meet Target stores' compliance deadlines.

Beyond compliance, Nordic Ware is looking to increase product delivery accuracy and develop automated shipping processes, converting from existing manual operations. The company sees its early adoption of RFID technology as an advantage over competitors who have yet to deploy RFID as well as another means of collaborating with one of its key customers.

There are many RFID compliance solutions today, but the combination of SoftBrands' enterprise systems and GlobeRanger's platform provides us with a flexible foundation to easily scale and move beyond compliance in the future, said Lin Olson, director of IT at Nordic Ware.

iMotion provides the critical infrastructure for managing RFID and sensor-based devices, as well as data processing at the edge of the enterprise, said Ralf Suerken, senior vice president and general manager for manufacturing at SoftBrands. Adding these management and control capabilities enables our customers to take advantage of emerging RFID technologies for meeting mandates and gaining operational efficiencies.

iMotion has been integrated into SoftBrands' Fourth Shift product. SoftBrands' Fourth Shift includes an extended enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite for mid-size manufacturers.
