Provider showcases new business intelligence solution in 12 cities

New York — September 19, 2005 — Business intelligence (BI) software provider Cognos has announced Cognos 8 Business Intelligence, a Web-services based solution that provides BI functionality in a single product.

At the worldwide launch event in New York, Cognos CEO Rob Ashe discussed how Cognos 8 BI provides a foundation for effective performance management, and he outlined how the customer-focused movement Cognos began in enterprise reporting in 2003 is fulfilled and enhanced with Cognos 8 BI.

Cognos had also enlisted speakers from the research firm Gartner, Howard Dresner and Bill Hostmann, to share their insights on why companies should standardize their BI, the fatal flaws of business intelligence and how enterprises can avoid them.

Cognos 8 BI has been employed by more than 100 organizations worldwide, Cognos said. Sherry Neubert, development manager, Enterprise Data Warehouse, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., also joined the launch event to discuss insights into the enhancements and standardization opportunities the product has for global enterprises.

Cognos 8 BI was unveiled globally at simultaneous events in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, London, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Vienna and Zurich.
