Actio to add regulatory reporting, increased chemical database capabilities to SciQuest's Chemical Manager

Research Triangle Park, NC and Hampton, NH — October 5, 2005 — SciQuest Inc., an on-demand supplier and materials management solutions provider, has partnered with Actio, a provider of chemical lifecycle management applications. As part of the agreement, SciQuest will offer Actio's Chemical Profile Database (CPD) and MSDS Vault as part of its Chemical Manager product.

Actio, in turn, will resell SciQuest's supply chain solutions, including Chemical Manager to supplement its suite of chemical lifecycle management (CLM) products, providing a cradle-to-grave solution to its clients.

Russ McCann, president of Actio Corp, commented, "This is the first time a chemical will be managed from the initial purchase through all stages of use while having hazardous compliance and regulatory reporting requirements handled automatically. This provides a value to customers as never seen before."

SciQuest Chemical Manager is an on-demand materials management solution that helps organizations centrally manage chemicals and hazardous substances and track them from purchase through disposal.

With Chemical Manager and the Actio solutions, the companies said organizations can better ensure regulatory compliance and accurate reporting; access a reference database of chemical substances, including the most commonly ordered chemical compounds; requisition chemicals from multiple supplier sources; add containers with custom labels directly to inventory from a purchase order; and reduce off-contract spending.

Actio's CPD is a comprehensive collection of chemical data from multiple, highly referenceable sources giving users the ability to properly and accurately interpret multiple physical properties of a substance and identify those materials with regulatory and classification descriptions such as hazardous, carcinogenic or a hazardous air pollutant (HAP).

"Actio's chemical database is a welcomed enhancement to our Chemical Manager product. Combining these solutions enables continual additions and updates of chemical data on a regular basis," said Dr. Subodh Joshi, Chemical Product manager at SciQuest. "The ability to offer additional enhancements to Chemical Manager, such as linking to Actio's MSDS Vault and Actio Regulator, will give customers the tools necessary to meet regulatory and reporting requirements."
