Food Lion Goes Live With One Network Logistics

One Network Enterprises, Inc. today announced that Food Lion LLC has gone live on the One Network Retail(TM) network, joining other top retailers such as Kroger, Safeway, Publix and Hannaford.

DALLAS, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- One Network Enterprises, Inc. today announced that Food Lion LLC has gone live on the One Network Retail(TM) network, joining other top retailers such as Kroger, Safeway, Publix and Hannaford.

Food Lion is utilizing One Network Shipment Execution and Appointment Scheduling. The solution includes visibility and the advanced functionality needed to both sense and respond to demand signals, a vital requirement in creating a demand-driven network.

The Food Lion implementation leverages the industry standards formulated by the One Network Standards Board, which provide a framework for order and shipment prioritization for the management of in-transit inventory. Although these standards benefit all participants in the supply network, Food Lion in particular will be able to use carriers more effectively, reduce dwell times, and drive on-time performance, which will in turn help reduce inventory buffers. The carriers also benefit by improved asset utilization and improved appointment scheduling productivity.

With the One Network solution in place, Food Lion will have comprehensive visibility to orders and shipments (both prepaid and collect) and will be able to prioritize and make tactical decisions based on demand signals, thus realizing the benefits of a responsive, demand-driven supply network. These benefits cannot be accomplished by a stand-alone TMS solution.

"Food Lion achieved good success in the first month through a combination of their business processes and the network effect that One Network enables. The vast majority of their suppliers and carriers are already using One Network to service other leading retailers, which creates a powerful effect of rapid adoption and high on-line scheduling compliance that significantly reduces operating costs," said John Keenan, CEO of One Network.

"Clearly, we are very pleased with the rapid supplier adoption of the appointment scheduling system and expect the compliance to go far higher," said Pete Bonneau, Director of Supply Chain for Food Lion.
