Product lifecycle management to improve collaboration, configuration capabilities and reduce time-to-market for fashion designer
Needham, MA — October 12, 2005 — PTC has announced that Liz Claiborne Inc., a designer and marketer of fashion apparel and accessories for everyone from infants to adults, has standardized on PTC Retail, Footwear and Apparel Solution for enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM).
PTC said the solution uses Windchill, its Web-based product data management and collaboration solution, to upgrade the product development process in the retail, footwear and apparel industry.
The provider commented that the retail, footwear and apparel product development process is complex, and companies are challenged to reduce time-to-market and product costs while improving product quality and information exchange. Liz Claiborne said, in particular, it required a solution that would optimize its product development processes to support its transformation to a highly integrated supply chain development model.
Liz Claiborne explained that it will use the Retail, Footwear and Apparel Solution to enhance global product development by improving value chain collaboration throughout the product lifecycle. One of the biggest challenges in the global product development process is managing and controlling access to product data and imagery. Liz Claiborne said this is especially important when a company collaborates on designs internally, as well as with suppliers from around the world.
