Company expands, updates MC3000 product suite for businesses seeking to increase productivity from in-store to backroom data capture applications
Holtsville, NY — October 31, 2005 — Symbol Technologies Inc. said that it has expanded the breadth of its MC3000 family of mobile computers by introducing a new pistol grip form factor.
Named the MC3090G mobile computer, Symbol said the new configuration allows customers in the retail, transportation and logistics, and government industries to choose the form factor most appropriate to their business. Symbol also announced today that it will refresh its MC3000 line of mobile computers to include Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 and additional features such as 802.11b/g/a WLAN connectivity.
Symbol said the MC3090G incorporates the Intel XScale processor for scanning efficiency, and that it is a compact, rugged mobile computer designed for businesses seeking to increase productivity from in-store to backroom data capture applications.
End-users include retail workers who perform tasks such as inventory replenishment, price audits, warehouse shipping/receiving and other scan-intensive applications, and workers who require a device in the transportation and logistics, postal, and other industries.
Symbol added that the new series of computers is based on the Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 computing platform. Select configurations also offer the rotating scan head with left, right and front positions to allow the user to adjust the scanning position for increased comfort and productivity. Along with four-foot drop specifications across a range of temperatures, the MC3090 series of rugged mobile computers has an IP54-rated sealing for protection against water and dust and provides reliable performance in tough environmental conditions.

Symbol said the MC3090 line of mobile computers can be equipped with a mobility services platform (MSP) agent that will collect and monitor device performance information and then deliver status in real-time to a centralized Symbol MSP management console. The feature us expected to help customers better address the challenges associated with rolling out, managing and maintaining enterprise mobility systems.
