Technology platform from TIBCO expected to prevent business interruptions for increased automotive supply chain execution

Palo Alto, CA November 4, 2005 TIBCO Software Inc., a business integration and process management software company, announced that it will provide TNT Logistics with complex event processing (CEP) and real-time visibility software for its radio frequency identification (RFID) initiative.

The partnership is expected to help prevent interruptions and manual interventions in the automotive supply chain for increased efficiency and delivery of what is referred to as perfect orders.

TIBCO said the enhanced execution of an automotive supply chain facilitates just-in-time (JIT) delivery of parts to a manufacturing site in correct sequence. Interruptions in an assembly process can translate into workflow delays, which equates to lost time and money. Consequently, businesses including TNT said they continually strive to synchronize the assembly process for an uninterrupted flow of parts from material sequencing centers to line side at the manufacturing plants.

TIBCO has enabled us to take the requirements, concepts and ideas behind RFID and integrate that information with the existing supply chain execution data stream, enhancing our ability to track product throughout the supply chain, said Terry McIntyre, RFID project leader for TNT Logistics North America. TIBCO was the best choice for TNT Logistics. The foundation of the RFID infrastructure is built for easy integration with TIBCO's software, making it a viable solution for us to expand globally.

TIBCO said its RFID software solution is able to identify and respond to correlated granular business events occurring at various layers within an organization and across the value chain. The solution can also handle millions of micro events and uses business rules to suggest real-time corrections for supply chain optimization.

Customers want to be assured that products will arrive in the exact order and time they specified, said Ram Menon, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing, TIBCO. Today's latest active RFID technology can help to ensure that businesses like TNT deliver on their promise of perfect orders' by simplifying and improving operational efficiency.
