Logistics service provider extends use of Management Dynamics solution for supply chain visibility and event management

East Rutherford, NJ — November 18, 2005 — Logistics service provider Schenker is expanding its relationship with global trade management specialist Management Dynamics, renewing and extending its subscription to the enabler's solution for supply chain visibility and event management.

Part of the transportation and logistics division of Deutsche Bahn, Schenker is a top supplier of integrated logistics services. The company provides support to trade and industry in the global exchange of goods.

Schenker has re-upped its subscription to Management Dynamics' BridgePoint solution, which will be used as the technology driving Schenker's Global Visibility and Control service.

Originally contracted in 2003, the Schenker BridgePoint solution includes several key features: a client-configurable portal interface with custom reports; order and in-transit inventory visibility for tracking international shipments through their lifecycle; real-time views into ship windows for improved vendor compliance; alerting capabilities to monitor cargo status and dynamically update estimated time of arrival; item-level information to manage inventory in-transit and plan for possible diversions; and demurrage and detention reports to manage and minimize exposure to fines.

Management Dynamics said that the BridgePoint supply chain visibility solution is well suited to meet the operational needs of Schenker. "As a Web-based, on-demand solution, BridgePoint eliminates the need for hardware and software investment, minimizes the impact on IT resources and reduces implementation timeframe and risk," the solution provider said.

According to Management Dynamics, the solution can be deployed in less than five days by utilizing existing e-commerce connections in the BridgePoint Network for all of Schenker's trading partners. Schenker clients using the BridgePoint solution include Megabloks, Davis International, Costco and Curtis International.

"With the rapid growth in global sourcing, companies are managing supply chains that are getting longer and more complex," said Claude Germain, chief operating officer for Schenker Canada. "Our customers demand technologies that will enable them to do this effectively in a challenging environment as well as provide the highest possible customer service at the lowest delivered cost. With BridgePoint we offer our clients real-time visibility, rich alerts, and a customized portal of management reports so they can make better business decisions and successfully compete in the international marketplace."

"Our BridgePoint technology enables Schenker's clients to better manage their global supply chains with greater visibility and control, synchronized processes and reduced cycle times," said Jim Preuninger, CEO of Management Dynamics.
