IFS, Intergraph and EDS PLM to use disparate software to create whole solutions for the DoD
Chicago — January 7, 2004 — IFS has joined a strategic alliance with Intergraph Solutions Group (ISG), American Management Systems Inc. (AMS) and EDS PLM to provide business solutions to the federal government.
The alliance, known as the Evolutionary Process for Integrating Commercial Off-the-Shelf Software (EPIC), was created to combine the knowledge of the leading Department of Defense (DoD) business solutions providers to better meet the needs of federal organizations, according to the companies.
Each of the EPIC members offers products to meet the different requirements of federal organizations. For example, AMS provides contract and financial management software; EDS offers product life-cycle management software; and IFS brings comprehensive asset, fleet management, and MRO (materials, repair and operations) software.
Additionally, Intergraph combines these software solutions to offer DoD clients complete off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions that meet war-fighter requirements.
With Aviation and Defense being one of IFS' targeted market segments, IFS Applications includes standard functionality that meets the requirements of defense providers. The provider said its project tracking and product data management (PDM) capabilities, combined with other IFS Applications components, is designed to make it easier for defense manufacturers to operate within government regulatory requirements while working on the design, manufacture and ongoing spare parts logistics and maintenance support of complex products throughout the product life cycle.
IFS customers within Aviation and Defense include General Dynamics, BAE SYSTEMS, Saab Lockheed Martin, Bofors Dynamics, Saab Aerospace, GE Engine Services, L3 Communications, Derco Aerospace, Conax, Gables Engineering, Hawker Pacific and Bristow Helicopters.
