To overcome storage, processing capabilities of large amounts of data

Framingham, MA — January 14, 2004 — The TJX Companies Inc., the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the United States and worldwide, has chosen the Netezza Performance Server (NPS) data warehouse appliance as part of its data warehouse solution.

The TJX Companies, with $12 billion in revenues and over 94,000 associates worldwide, includes T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, the two largest off-price retailers in the United States. TJX said it turned to Netezza to overcome the storage and processing capabilities of traditional solutions, and to find a cost-effective way to handle the large amounts of data generated by the company's steady growth.

Netezza said its NPS appliance is going to enable TJX to store and access terabytes of data. At TJX, the NPS appliance has already demonstrated performance improvement for large, complex queries in data warehouse and data mart repositories.
