Palo Alto, CA, and Munich, Germany January 19 Kaba, a leader in doors, keys and other security solutions, announced it has selected TIBCO corporate portal and integration infrastructure solutions for the implementation of a single corporate portal to replace the company's 50 independent Web sites.

For many years, the Kaba Group, which currently employs 6,200 employees, said it has been achieving its growth objectives by following an expansion strategy balanced between organic growth and a number of acquisitions.

The group now has subsidiaries in over 50 countries, and most of these companies have their own Web sites and their own Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server, used to check user directories and allow verified staff to access enterprise applications like e-mail and enterprise resource planning (ERP).

Kaba said it decided to simplify this approach by having one single portal with one corporate LDAP for staff and trading partners, and by integrating the principal corporate applications with this portal.

The portal project, which started with the implementation of the corporate LDAP server, has been completed. The TIBCO solution incorporates this into its integration framework and will, subsequently, connect the other corporate back-office applications, including e-mail, collaboration, ERP and databases.

Hans-Peter Sauter, IT manager Austria, at Kaba, said, "[TIBCO's] portal solution with an integration framework that's easy to use means we can go live earlier than expected, saving staff time and making the whole enterprise and our trading partners more productive."
