Adds new Web services capabilities, improved document versioning; touts benefits for regulatory compliance
Colorado Springs, CO — January 21, 2004 — Solution provider Optika this week debuted the latest version of its flagship enterprise content management (ECM) solution software, adding Web Services capabilities and improved document versioning, along with features designed to help companies meet various government regulatory requirements.
The 40-plus enhancements to version 4.0 of Optika's Acorde solution also include integration with EMC Centera WORM (Write Once Read Many) storage devices and several new Web client capabilities.
Optika says its 4.0 product line delivers more than 80 new Web services components, which can allow line-of-business applications written in various programming languages for various platforms to leverage the Acorde product capabilities.
Acorde 4.0 introduces the new Business Model Framework (BMF), designed to bridge the gap between centralized enterprise information and distributed human intelligence. Optika says that companies can use Acorde Process and BMF to realize agile business modeling while leveraging existing investments in enterprise resource planning (ERP) and line-of-business applications. The integration framework supports such ERP systems as PeopleSoft/J.D. Edwards, Oracle and Microsoft Business Solutions.
The Acorde document versioning functionality has also been improved to provide major and minor version tracking for all documents stored within Acorde, enabling a mechanism for tracking the evolution of a document from creation through multiple revisions.
The improved Web client delivered in the 4.0 version of Acorde adds such functionality as new Web administrative options, custom Web tools and the Acorde Web Management Dashboard. The dashboard is a stand-alone Microsoft .Net-based Web application that provides an interface for analyzing the usage of various functions within the Acorde system.
In addition, Acorde 4.0 provides a Department of Defense 5015.2-certified records management solution. Acorde Records Management extends Optika's document imaging capabilities by providing retention schedule design, record lifecycle implementation and security enforcement necessary for enterprise-level records management.
Version 4.0 also supports the EMC Centera Compliance Edition storage devices, which, when used in conjunction with Acorde Records Management, enable customers to meet such regulatory requirements as Securities and Exchange Commission Rule 17a-4, DoD 5015.2 and 21 CFR Part 11.
