February 18, 2004 Unisys Ltd., a subsidiary of global information technology (IT) services company Unisys Corp., said it has signed a five-year contract with a subsidiary of Avis Europe plc, the leading car rental company in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Under the terms of the agreement, Unisys said it would implement and oversee infrastructure managed services for over 5,600 desktops in some 1,200 Avis offices and rental stations across 13 countries in Europe.

Unisys will provide service management, infrastructure management and standardization to a single technology platform. IT queries from Avis' employees, offices and rental stations will now be handled centrally via a help desk at the multi-lingual Unisys Managed Services Centre in Schiphol, The Netherlands.
