Partners combine radio frequency identification hardware, data collection software and services

Toronto, ON — March 16, 2004 — Acsis, a provider of supply chain and business process automation solutions, has inked a value-added reseller (VAR) agreement with SAMSys Technologies, a provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware solutions.

Under this agreement, SAMSys will provide their RFID-reader technologies for integration into Acsis' enterprise data collection software and services. SAMSys joins a network of RFID hardware and software developers who have partnered with Acsis to provide customized RFID systems for automotive, pharmaceutical and consumer goods clients.

Acsis said it provides RFID solutions tailored for a variety of radio frequency characteristics, product attributes and environmental factors that may impact system performance.

"The mandates from Wal-Mart, the Department of Defense and Target are driving an unprecedented interest in RFID, but there is still a shortage of implementation and vertical market expertise," said Steve Hall, vice president of sales and marketing at SAMSys. "Ascis' leadership in RFID technology and extensive experience in real-world implementations strengthens our customer outreach strategy and ensures third-party manufacturers are able to quickly roll out RFID systems to meet looming compliance deadlines."

SAMSys said its line of RFID readers' spans low frequency, high frequency and UHF, and supports a range of protocols and standards.

"SAMSys is an ideal addition to our partner network, providing solutions that are compliant with evolving industry standards and flexible enough to meet a range of implementation requirements," said Steve Brown, vice president of marketing and business development for Acsis. "Leveraging the best capabilities from across our partner network enables Acsis to deliver a greater degree of solutions possibilities for optimal performance of RFID systems."

Acsis said it has been implementing RFID technology since the late 1990s with its RFID hardware and software partners. Acsis' RFID capabilities combine reader and smart label equipment with its own Datapass software, RFID lab testing through its RFID Readiness program, consulting services and RFID and ERP system systems integration.
