Candle and fragrance company seeks to boost sourcing processes with Procuri

Atlanta — June 2, 2004 — Candle and fragrance company Blyth Inc. has signed a two-year agreement to use strategic sourcing solutions from Procuri as part of an initiative to streamline and standardize its sourcing processes while institutionalizing best practices.

Based in Greenwich, Conn., Blyth designs, manufactures and distributes a line of candles and home fragrance products, as well as a range of home decor and decorative seasonal products. The company racked up sales of $1.5 billion in its most recent fiscal year.

Blyth will be using Procuri's solutions in North America, Europe and Asia within its worldwide PartyLite direct selling business, the company's consumer wholesale businesses and its Sterno business unit.

Since December, the company has globally trained purchasing professionals and has sourced $68 million of spend worldwide through a variety of Procuri's functionality, including requests for information, reverse auctions and sealed bids. The company recently realized double-digit savings for events completed in its North American and European divisions, according to Procuri.

Before choosing Procuri, Blyth conducted a full market evaluation. The company wanted a provider that could help meet its sourcing goals through a cost-effective and extensible software application, and Blyth ultimately selected Procuri's Web-based solutions.

"When determining which provider to use, we looked for a company that offered a powerful combination of software and services," said Glenn Evans, vice president of Global Sourcing for Blyth. "We chose Procuri because of its rich functionality and its unique approach to transfer sourcing knowledge and expertise in order to leverage our team's core competencies while achieving self-sufficiency."

"Our goal with any customer, including Blyth, is to help them achieve self-sufficiency," said Mark F. Morel, Sr., president and CEO for Procuri, "by leveraging and elevating the expertise of their staff."
