Grenzebach outfits worldwide development, design and construction departments with Model Manager from CoCreate Software

Sindelfingen, Germany — June 8, 2004 — CoCreate Software GmbH & Co. KG, a provider of computer-aided design (CAD) and collaboration software for product development, announced today that Grenzebach Maschinenbau GmbH has purchased 67 licenses of OneSpace Model Manager and will use the product as its enterprise-wide data management solution.

Grenzebach is headquartered in Germany, with development and manufacturing sites in the USA and a manufacturing plant in China. The company leads the world market in production of equipment for the production of float glass, gypsum plasterboards and cement fiber boards. The Grenzebach Group boasts sales of over 140 million euros annually and employs approximately 1,000 people worldwide.

In 2002 the company upgraded its development software to 3D CAD with the purchase of OneSpace Designer Modeling. Within six months, Grenzebach reduced its design phase by 30 percent.

The company said it expects to surpass those results as they continue to standardize and re-use 3D parts and assemblies using Model Manager. "With a good data management process, we'll save considerable amounts of time and money," said Christian Herfert, research and development manager at Grenzebach.

"We chose Model Manager for a number of reasons," said Franz Bachmeir, CAD administrator. "Tight integration with OneSpace Designer Modeling; its reusable, simple data search function; its efficiency in working with large assemblies; and the easy access it offers to our existing parts and assemblies. We expect performance to improve by two to three times, which will provide us a significant increase in productivity."

Grenzebach will use OneSpace Model Manager as its central data management solution worldwide in its development, design and manufacturing departments. The company will store all of its development data in the central databank and organize information by version, release and modification status.

"Grenzebach is a highly development-driven enterprise," said Herfert. "To maintain our technological lead, we invest continuously in new developments that then flow into our customized equipment. A technologically leading, standards-based, flexible development environment is a prerequisite. With CoCreate we have a competent partner on our side."
