Customers for Exostar gain new efficiencies through integration of product data management systems
Herndon, VA, and Denver, CO — August 18, 2004 — Exostar, a global marketplace for the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry, and Federation, a solutions provider for product lifecycle management (PLM) software interoperability, have announced a partnership agreement to enhance e-collaboration services for Exostar's customers.
According to Exostar, coordination of product data information, both internally and across the extended enterprise, throughout the product life cycle has become a strategic imperative for A&D manufacturers. Product engineering data is a valuable resource in the product development process as it contains all the information required to define, design, manufacture, assemble, ship and maintain a product.
Federation said its software facilitates the flow of all design and product information as it is created or revised between partners in the design and manufacturing process. The software has been integrated into Exostar's ForumPass application. ForumPass, according to Exostar, is a secure collaboration platform that enables online design and team/project management.
Federation added that its software allows any company to securely interconnect and share engineering product data from their product data/lifecycle management (PDM/PLM) system with their partners and suppliers.
Bill Angeloni, Exostar's CEO, commented that his company's collaboration customers have been struggling with the problem of heterogeneous PDM/PLM system interoperability. "Federation's software allows us to answer this challenging market need and extend our value as a secure neutral collaboration environment," he said. "Coupled with Exostar's other solutions, true external supply chain integration is finally available across procurement and key design and development functions."
