Old Mother Hubbard taps IFS business software as part of rapid growth strategy

Chicago — August 20, 2004 — Old Mother Hubbard, national manufacturer of the Wellness brand of natural pet foods, supplements and treats, and the Old Mother Hubbard brand of pet treats, said it has implemented IFS Applications business software as part of a strategy for rapid growth.

The company is using IFS' supply chain management and financial applications at its administrative offices and warehouse in Chelmsford, Mass., and its manufacturing plant in nearby Lowell. Old Mother Hubbard plans to add IFS' quality management, workforce management and maintenance applications in the future.

"IFS Applications enables us to streamline our operations and realize substantial savings by integrating standalone systems, automating manual processes and improving inventory accuracy," said Joe Pelonzi, IT director for Old Mother Hubbard. "The IFS system will be the foundation we need to support our strategic growth plans."

Michael Nordin, president of IFS North America, commented that as people become better aware of their own health, they are also becoming more concerned with the health of their pets. "Old Mother Hubbard is successfully capitalizing on this trend by offering a complete line of healthy pet foods," he said. "We can help them with functionality that will enable them to streamline all their business processes-from demand planning, to inventory, to warehousing, to order and delivery. And because IFS Applications is component based, they can deploy the applications they need now and add the functionality they need as they grow."

The process industry is one of IFS' targeted market segments. The company provides industry-specific support for enterprises in the food and beverage, pulp and paper, metal, paint and adhesive, and pharmaceutical industry segments.

IFS customers in the process industry include Pepsi Shanghai, Jotun, SICPA, Akzo Nobel and SCA.
