Midwest retailer looks to capitalize on benefits of data synchronization

Chicago — September 28, 2004 — Midwest retailer Schnuck Markets has selected Transora as its recipient data pool partner in a move to expand the company's data synchronization efforts and take greater advantage of the benefits of synchronization.

St. Louis-based Schnuck Markets Inc. operates 101 stores and 94 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Mississippi. Schnucks is the sixth largest privately held company in St. Louis, with $2.2 billion in sales in 2003.

Under its new contract, Schnucks will seek to immediately benefit from those manufacturers already using Transora's data pool services and will work to quickly begin piloting with these trading partners.

Further expansion efforts will include requesting its suppliers to also collaborate electronically, suggesting Transora as their source data pool.

"We continue to be a believer in the benefits of data synchronization, having experienced those benefits but on a relatively small scale since our involvement with the GMA study in spring of 2000," said Craig Schnuck, chairman and CEO of Schnucks. "We now look to dramatically increase our ability to fully capitalize on these benefits and see great value in Transora's premier customer community, as well as their data-synchronization expertise and value-added applications."

Schnuck said that the relationship with Transora should enable his company to work more effectively with its suppliers and to provide better service to its customers.

Transora said its recipient data pool solution offers a standards-compliant service for retailers that allows them to manage all supplier data, whether local, national or international, through one connection point to their supply base.

"Schnucks is the third retailer to have selected Transora this summer, demonstrating the attractiveness and reliability of our services to the entire CPG community," said Barry Beracha, Transora board chair and former CEO of Sara Lee Bakery Group.
