Iscar, Vykor partner to model tooling in software solution, giving visibility into ROI on new cutting technology
Chicago — September 30, 2004 — Vykor, a provider of engineered part management (EPM) solutions, and Iscar, a provider of metalworking and metal cutting tools, have formed strategic alliance that aims to bring advanced machining technology to market in support of Vykor's EPM solutions.
As these two providers see it, outsourcing trends decrease a company's visibility to the key factors that drive cost, quality and schedule, and manufacturing processes and technologies have a significant impact in each of these areas.
Vykor says its EPM solutions integrate manufacturing knowledge into a collaborative platform that allows original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers in the aerospace and semiconductor capital equipment industries to quantify the investment of advanced manufacturing technologies and processes.
Iscar develops metalworking tools that aim to bring reductions in the cost and schedule of machining. Iscar tooling will be modeled in Vykor's software when appropriate best-in-class criteria are met, giving visibility to the return on investment (ROI) of investing in new Iscar cutting technology, the two solution providers said.

Additionally, the companies have dedicated research and development teams to certify Iscar technology for best-in-class cutting categories. The companies said they will soon publish their findings to Iscar customers and to the Vykor Affiliate Network program.
