Chemicals company deploys Zemeter solution from Supply Chain Consultants to achieve network optimization in its supply chain

Wilmington, DE — October 25, 2004 — Specialty chemicals company Rhodia Eco Services has deployed a supply chain planning solution from Supply Chain Consultants (SCC) as part of a project to achieve network optimization in its supply chain.

Headquartered in Cranbury, N.J., Eco Services is a $230 million division of the global chemical giant Rhodia, Inc. The company operates six plants in North America that produce virgin sulfuric acid, and Eco also reprocesses used acid returned from customers.

Eco has implemented Zemeter Supply Planner, part of the Zemeter Suite of supply chain management software products offered by SCC. "The Supply Planner capability of Zemeter helps us keep demand and supply in balance by coordinating manufacturing and distribution resources," said Roger Yackel, director of supply chain for Eco. "As a result of using Zemeter both plant utilization and customer service have improved."

Eco Services is now also better able to control the complex shipping and storage requirements that handling a recycled product entails, Yackel said. "While all large-scale manufacturers have complex supply chains, ours is even more so when you take into account the reverse logistics required for the recycling activities," he added.

Zemeter provides a spectrum of product functionality, including demand planning, inventory planning, finite scheduling, production optimization, margin optimization and business intelligence. The Rhodia implementation of Zemeter supports earlier applications for collaborative demand planning and company-wide reporting on supply chain performance.
