Marlborough, MA — November 5, 2004 — Solution provider Proficiency has named Trenton H. Brown to the posts of president and CEO of the product data interoperability specialist, with a charge to accelerate the provider's growth in the marketplace.

Brown joins Proficiency from Rand Worldwide, where he was executive vice president of worldwide sales and chief operating officer. Prior to Rand, Brown was co-chairman of The Oakwood Group, a U.K.- and Australian-based investment company.

Previously Brown was executive vice president of international sales for PTC, responsible for two-thirds of the company's annual revenues, and successful in entering and building new markets throughout the world. He graduated from Western Illinois University, attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and served as an active duty officer in the U.S. Army with global assignments.

"Trent's reputation as a world-class creator and builder of businesses precedes him," said Shlomo Dovrat, chairman of the board of Proficiency. "He is uniquely qualified to help Proficiency become a comprehensively sound company and to accelerate its commercial impact in the marketplace."

Brown takes the reins from Scott A. Berkey. "We want to thank Scott for his contributions during the first phase of the company's evolution," continued Dovrat. "Proficiency now has an extremely unique and competitive product, as well as an enviable customer base comprised of dozens of the world's leading companies."

Commenting on the future of Proficiency, Brown said: "With an unrelenting focus on execution against our vision, Proficiency will now deliver solutions that will remove the final barrier to product lifecycle management (PLM) success: integration of the applications that comprise PLM. No other technology in the coming decade will have as great an effect on increasing the top line and reducing the expense line for manufacturing industries."

Proficiency provides interoperability software and solutions for applications used in product development. The company's feature-based CAD interoperability product, the Collaboration Gateway, is used today by Global 2000 companies in the automotive, aerospace and heavy equipment markets. The company's customers include Boeing, Crane/NAVSEA, Ford Motor Company and Thyssen Krupp, among others.
