Global visibility to lean supply chain is at the heart servicing customers worldwide for company

Marlborough, MA — November 17, 2004 — MARKEM Corp., a provider of product identification solutions, said it has selected Kewill Solution's Javalin Enterprise Ship (ES) solution to streamline its international supply chain.

MARKEM Corp. delivers marking and coding systems to some of the world's largest companies such as L'Oreal, Lipton and Bristol Myers Squibb. With rapid expansion domestically and overseas, the company decided to invest in overhauling its global supply chain technology to streamline international shipping and provide global visibility from its technology centers to its customers. The selection of Kewill is critical to this initiative and Javalin will be integrated tightly into their Oracle 11i Suite.

Kewill's Javalin enterprise shipping solution will be used to integrate MARKEM Corp.'s facilities, including three manufacturing centers; distribution centers in the United States, Europe and the Far East; and 17 local sales and service offices throughout the world.

Since fulfilling customer orders requires coordination of shipments from multiple locations, MARKEM Corp. said it needed a solution to support its lean supply chain. With Javalin, MARKEM Corp. expects to save over $400,000 per year in improved processes and lower freight costs, while improving customer service and on-time deliveries.

"The combination of our worldwide customer base, our focus on lean manufacturing, plus the coordination of our technology centers, research, distribution centers and regional business centers, makes synchronizing logistics a complex task," said Tim Riley, vice president of manufacturing and logistics, at MARKEM Corp. "We needed a single source of truth for our supply chain information. Kewill's vision, their relationship with Oracle and Javalin's ability to support us globally made them the obvious choice."
