Convenience store chain selects solution to manage, distribute data about site selection for future stores

San Jose, CA — November 30, 2004 — With more than 300 million customers to serve each year and 150 million cups of coffee to pour, executives for the Wawa convenience store chain know the importance of building new stores in locations that best serve their customers.

That is why Wawa, a $2 billion company with over 540 convenience store locations, has selected Business Objects, a provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, to help assist in delivering information within the company's real estate division. Crystal Enterprise from Business Objects will be used to manage and distribute data on site selection for future stores, budget planning and property management.

Wawa will use Business Objects' solutions to standardize on a reporting tool within its Real Estate Department. Crystal Enterprise will be utilized to build reports in both the property management and job costing systems within the real estate division. Using Business Objects solutions to access information from its Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, managers within Wawa's real estate division will be able to access up-to-date information on such items as leases, financing and remodeling costs.

"We chose Crystal Enterprise as our reporting solution because it is very user friendly and allows our employees to gather information themselves and then use that information immediately to help the business grow," said Michael McCabe, Real Estate's Technology manager for Wawa. "At Wawa, we are involved with all aspects of new store development, starting with the identification of a market and through the construction phase of a new store. We feel Business Objects gives us the reporting tools we need to support the real estate division at the highest possible level."

"By relying on Business Objects, Wawa Real Estate ensures that business critical information is always available, ultimately giving executives the ability to make smarter decisions," said Russ Hill, worldwide director of consumer product goods, distribution, and retail marketing at Business Objects. "Wawa is a proven leader among convenience stores and we look forward to helping them continue on a path of growth and profitability."
