Tier-one auto supplier to deploy Infor solution worldwide to help meet lean manufacturing requirements

Northville, MI — December 2, 2004 — Tier-one auto supplier Tenneco Automotive is set to implement a supply chain management system from Infor Global Solutions as part of the company's efforts to meet the requirements of the lean manufacturing environment worldwide.

With headquarters in Lake Forest, Ill., Tenneco Automotive is a $3.8 billion manufacturing company with approximately 19,200 employees worldwide. Tenneco is one of the world's producers of emission control and ride control products and systems for the automotive original equipment market and the aftermarket.

The company will implement Infor's SupplyWEB solution at its manufacturing plants worldwide. SupplyWEB, Infor's Web-enabled supply chain management solution, integrates information from disparate enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems used by various suppliers to create a single, universal, real-time view of supply chain operations for suppliers and internal users. This can help create efficiencies, reduce supply chain costs and decrease inventories by integrating multiple suppliers into a single system, Infor said.

Infor said it worked closely with Tenneco Automotive's logistics, materials and supply chain groups to develop a global business plan for optimizing an automated supply chain. An initial installation of SupplyWEB was implemented at the company's Wissembourg, France, plant and produced a 35 percent reduction in inventory, eliminated fax and manual processing charges, and significantly reduced costs for expedited freight.

"With the demands of a lean manufacturing environment, optimizing our supply chain operations with SupplyWEB helps provide the efficiencies and cost containment we need to stay ahead of the competition," said Bill Haser, vice president and chief information officer for Tenneco Automotive.

"SupplyWEB will provide Tenneco Automotive with the functionality necessary to seamlessly manage supply chain operations in multiple countries and across continents," said Robin Pederson, senior vice president of the Discrete Group for Infor.

Infor provides vertical-specific, enterprise-wide business solutions to various manufacturing and distribution industries worldwide, addressing challenges in areas such as supply chain planning, relationship management, demand management, ERP and warehouse management. Other Infor customers include TRW, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Pez International and Valvoline.
