Palm Springs, CA — November 11, 2003 — Medical technology company Medtronic has selected mySAP Business Suite as part of an initiative to improve visibility into its global supply chain activities across all businesses.

According to enterprise resource planning (ERP) system specialist SAP, the solution will allow Medtronic to migrate its existing legacy enterprise resource systems onto a single SAP platform, providing the company with a single global view of all of its businesses.

"Medtronic needs an ERP solution that will give us greater visibility into our supply chain and overall operations," said Jeff Balagna, senior vice president and chief information and quality officer at Medtronic. "With mySAP Business Suite, we will be able to continue our current growth curve and better serve our customers."

Within the mySAP Business Suite, Medtronic will primarily leverage several the Financials, Supply Chain Management and Business Intelligence components. The company will also utilize SAP's Advanced Planning & Optimization solution and Compliance Management, a component of SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS).

The solution provider says that the applications will provide a foundation for cross-enterprise collaboration and an ability to scale back reliance on third-party and/or custom applications.

The announcement of the deal came at the Interlog Medical conference in Palm Springs this week, and SAP said that the win reflects its ability to provide solutions for all aspects of the manufacture of medical equipment and demonstrates the provider's ability to support its customers in the highly regulated healthcare industry.
