Solution designed to optimize modes, reduce costs and add visibility for time-critical shipments

Redwood City, CA — November 25, 2003 — Menlo Worldwide Expedite!, a supply chain service provider, has unveiled its new Premium Logistics Management system (Menlo PLM), a solution intended to optimize critical transportation requirements by mode while reducing costs and adding visibility for same-day air, ground and charter shipments.

Menlo Worldwide Expedite! is part of the Menlo Worldwide group of supply chain services providers. Menlo Worldwide is owned by CNF.

Menlo says that its PLM offering is a customizable solution that determines the most cost-effective mode of transport and transportation alternatives based on the number of pieces, origin, destination, shipment weight, ready time and carrier tariffs.

Through a link to the Federal Aviation Administration's global satellite tracking service, the system automatically pinpoints the exact in-transit location of all aircraft and flights at any given time. In addition, it provides real-time weather updates, providing alternate routes in the event of weather diversions or airport closures. Customer connection to Menlo PLM can occur via phone, e-mail or the Web.

The solution is also capable of managing critical transportation programs using the customer's predetermined contracted carriers. Rates and services are loaded into the Web-based application, with shipments awarded to carriers based upon weighted service and rate criteria as dictated by the customer. Additionally, PLM is capable of handling carrier contracts and rate negotiations should the customer require outsourcing, Menlo said.

Throughout the life of a shipment, the solution provides updates based on customer requirements. Menlo PLM's carrier partners can provide status reports automatically through the PLM Web portal, and the solution continuously monitors and tracks all shipments and keeps a record of all milestones. Upon delivery of a shipment, Menlo PLM secures and communicates proof-of-delivery information to all required parties.

"By combining this new technology with our industry expertise, Menlo PLM eliminates the stress and guesswork so often associated with time-critical shipments," said David Quin, president and chief executive officer of Menlo Worldwide Expedite!.

PLM is now available for all North American shipments and is planned to be a global solution.
