Bicycle manufacturer chooses solution to drive consensus planning and enable a one-number forecast

Atlanta — December 9, 2003 — Cannondale Bicycle Corp. this week announced it has selected Logility Voyager Solutions to improve its demand forecasting processes and reduce costs. Cannondale is a manufacturer of lightweight, high-performance road and mountain bikes, selling more than 80 models in over 70 countries worldwide.

"Our bicycles are lightweight, state-of-the-art machines," said John Doerr, Cannondale's president of Operations. "But handcrafted quality and innovative designs alone aren't enough; we need to keep our operations efficient and deliver finished products to our retailers and consumers in a timely manner."

Doerr said the Logility solution would help the Cannondale team link its corporate strategies and objectives into the forecasting process. "Our business is very seasonal, and Logility will help improve our planning accuracy by enabling corporate sales, operations, finance and marketing to generate a one-number forecast. By initiating a consensus planning process, we are taking another step that will generate both short- and long-term operational improvements."

Cannondale said it would use Logility Voyager Solutions to reconcile demand history, orders, trends and other information, enabling the company to produce a comprehensive overview of demand by stock-keeping unit (SKU), customer and region.

Mike Edenfield, CEO and president of Logility, said, "Companies use Logility to establish a collaborative planning process and gain consensus across all departments to increase forecast accuracy, reduce inventory and boost customer service. The one-number forecast can then be used for all forward-looking business decisions, including sales and operations planning (S&OP). We are pleased to add Cannondale to our list of consumer goods customers."
