Partnership marries compliance apps with enterprise content management capabilities

Colorado Springs, CO September 18, 2003 Enterprise content management (ECM) solution provider Optika and Nth Orbit, a controls and compliance solution vendor, this week teamed up in a partnership to offer a joint solution for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

The partnership delivers Nth Orbit's Certus solution and expertise combined with Optika's Acorde as a compliance framework for organizations required to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

The compliance offering allows organizations to leverage a controls library and internal controls application based upon the framework laid down by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO framework), as well as workflow and records management for compliance with today's government mandates.

Nth Orbit says that its Certus software allows companies to manage and meet the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 302 and 404 and to sustain compliance. Certus provides a COSO controls library and framework, risk assessments, controls documentation, formalized procedures, self assessments and certifications, and monitoring and management reporting to enable management to make assertions on its internal controls and to facilitate examination by outside auditors for their attestation.

Optika's Acorde product family provides enterprise content management capabilities, management of control documentation, workflow management and records management for risk mitigation and ongoing optimization of business processes that expose an organization to financial risk.

The Acorde Records Management solution is intended to help organizations identify, classify, track and manage all forms of information from inception through the end of the lifecycle, allowing users to establish retention periods for business records, organize and retain these documents and other assets for legally required amounts of time, and provide quick access to them on demand.

Vani Kola, CEO of Nth Orbit, said, "This partnership offers our collective customers an ability to address the records retention aspects of compliance and helps them reduce risks and the costs of risk management."
