Rebounding supply chain technology provider eyes growth, adds multi-enterprise execution platform and targets high-tech customers

Dallas — February 21, 2006 — A subsidiary of supply chain solution provider i2 Technologies has acquired the assets of RiverOne, which provides software designed to help high-tech companies manage and control partner-based business operations.

RiverOne's customers, focused in electronics, ranged across all supply chain roles and sizes from small subsystem OEMs to the largest EMS providers.

"Supply chain management today is a multi-enterprise challenge," said i2 CEO Michael McGrath. "The next generation of supply chain solutions must address multi-enterprise business processes. By acquiring RiverOne's software, i2 adds a multi-enterprise execution platform that extends our supply chain collaboration capabilities."

"Strategic" Acquisition

McGrath said that the acquisition also was strategic for i2 because it allows the solution provider to further expand its customer base in electronics manufacturing, where i2 already has a significant market share.

i2, once flying high during the dot.com bubble, more recently has faced hard economic times and had been going through a series of efforts to shore up its balance sheet as it refocused on supply chain management applications.

As part of those efforts, last year i2 sold its Trade Service Corporation subsidiary to a group of investors led by TSC's management team. Previously, the company sold a competency center for the development of sourcing solutions for collaborative product lifecycle management to Dassault Systemes.

Focused on Growth

"Now that i2 is on solid financial footing we can evaluate strategic acquisitions that will leverage our growth," said McGrath. "As part of our growth strategy, we are open to acquisitions that will expand our customer base, as well as those that will enable us to add products and services for our current customers. RiverOne fits that profile."

i2 said it expects to offer continued support to RiverOne's previous customers and anticipates hiring a number of RiverOne employees. "RiverOne has some great employees, and we are looking forward to welcoming them into the i2 family," added McGrath.

RiverOne's INTERACTIVE software solution is designed to enable business processes at the supply chain level, providing for integrated execution, multi-tier planning and shared metrics through a single, multi-company business application. RiverOne has said that its software fosters "supply chain intimacy" by enabling organizations to define and drive their supply chain operations partner-by-partner, program-by-program.
