After the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) forced a string of industry tradeshows and conferences to cancel or postpone—for MHI’s MODEX 2020, the show must go on.

MODEX 2020 was the year of hand sanitizers, elbow bumps and puppies. Yes, puppies.

But, it was also the show that most in the supply chain and logistics industry will never forget.

That’s because after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) forced a string of industry tradeshows and conferences to cancel or postpone—for MHI’s MODEX 2020, the show must go on.

And, that it did.Modex2

From pallets integrated with Internet of Things to robotic pallet sorters to augmented reality, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and cobot-powered order fulfillment, from stand-up tow tractors, portable printers and forklifts embedded with augmented reality to all-in-one supply chain solutions, sorting, picking, packing and placing and everything hands-free, this year’s MODEX delivered nothing short from the ultimate in cutting-edge solutions for the supply chain industry.

Quality over quantity was the key phrase heard ‘round the show floor. Attendees walked the halls with a purpose and a problem to solve, while exhibitors cleaned and sanitized displays during demonstrations and press conferences.

The goal for us editors on Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive was also quality—quality content, quality connections, quality coverage, quality editorial and sales and a quality-focused future on the supply chain and logistics industry.

Meanwhile, food trucks surrounded the halls with everything from tacos and Philly Cheesesteaks to deli sandwiches and pizza.

And, the puppies… who can forget the puppies? Kind of random, maybe, but think about it, puppies from shelters and/or breeders need to rely on a supply chain network to get to and from their forever homes.Me With Puppies

Thank you MHI for going ahead with the show despite today's circumstances. Thank you for allowing us and other companies to continue doing business, making connections and planning for the future.

Thank you to my staff who hustled, networked and helped solidify interview opportunities for upcoming articles--both online and in print. If you haven't already, check out our LinkedIn pages for in-booth video tours and on-site commentary.

Look through our MODEX landing pages to discover the latest equipment, technology and solutions in supply chain.

And, let’s connect to learn more about how we can work together.

Here’s a virtual elbow bump to those who showed up and made the most of it. For those that were unfortunately forced to sit this one out, spoken like a true Cubs fan, there’s always next year.

Now, go wash those hands and stay healthy!
