Ariba Reaches Hallmark

Card company selects procurement platform

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. - January 16, 2001 - e-Procurement platform provider Ariba today announced that greeting card giant Hallmark Cards has selected the Ariba B2B Commerce Platform to manage its global procurement process.

Kansas City, Mo.-based Hallmark will use Ariba Buyer 7.0, the latest version of the solution, to streamline purchasing of products and services, such as office supplies and travel, for its corporate offices, manufacturing plants and subsidiaries worldwide.

With Ariba Buyer, Hallmark will electronically collect, route and process purchasing requests from employee desktops and direct spending to preferred suppliers and B2B marketplaces.

The cost reductions and increased efficiencies that Ariba can provide a global organization like Hallmark will yield long-term benefits, said John Magner, vice president, North American operations with Ariba. We are pleased to be able to assist a well-known company such as Hallmark in working toward its aggressive growth goals.

Phase one of the Ariba solution deployment at Hallmark is expected to be completed by second quarter 2001 and will include users spanning six sites.

Founded in 1910, privately held Hallmark has 20,945 full-time employees worldwide and publishes products in over 30 languages, distributed in more than 100 countries.
