ATLANTA, GA. March 6, 2001 Supply chain software and services provider Viewlocity announced back-to-back customer wins on Monday and Tuesday, scoring DSC Logistics and Onmark Group.
DSC Logistics will implement Viewlocity's Integration Broker to facilitate real-time collaboration with DSC's customers and trading partners, according to an announcement Tuesday. Viewlocity's Integration Broker will enable DSC to provide real-time information to its customers by connecting the packaged and legacy systems of DSC and its customers.
DSC is the latest logistics company to implement Viewlocity's Integration Broker, joining Ryder System, BidFreight, CarrierPoint and 3PLex.
"DSC's customers are in different stages of technology development and use a variety of applications to transfer information," stated Ann Drake, CEO of DSC Logistics. "We chose Viewlocity because their history of integration gives us the flexibility we need to quickly integrate the varied systems of our customers and because real-time information is critical for us."
DSC, one of the nation's largest privately owned third-party logistics providers, is in the process of revamping its logistics execution systems and chose Viewlocity to provide the infrastructure for its enterprise and to connect DSC to its customers and trading partners. Viewlocity will also provide DSC with a communication platform to help carriers receive customer shipment information in multiple formats and then manage the complex business rules and notification process required to ship the goods for the customer in real-time.
Des Plaines, Ill.-based DSC provides logistics services for global customers that include Kimberly-Clark, Unilever-Bestfoods, Kellogg's, Nabisco, BodyTrends.com, Swapit and Playtex.
"As a logistics service provider, DSC's integration challenges can be significant," said Greg Cronin, CEO of Viewlocity. "Every customer has different systems, applications and data and DSC has a lot of customers so there's an integration ripple effect that's inescapable. Viewlocity's Integration Broker was developed to handle these types of issues, providing real-time information across a variety of systems."
The DSC win follows the announcement on Monday that Onmark Group, which describes itself as a "Web-based leasing and innovative financing solutions" provider, has selected Viewlocity's software application to help gain more control and visibility of its supply chain.
Viewlocity's TradeSync Shipment Visibility application will provide Onmark and its customers with Web access to the shipment details including shipper, carrier and content information of equipment leased from Onmark's online marketplace. The application will work hand-in-hand with Viewlocity's Integration Broker, which Onmark implemented in January 2001 to provide the integration infrastructure necessary to connect large computer equipment manufacturers with value-added resellers and major leasing companies.
"After implementing Viewlocity's Integration Broker, we looked to obtain the visibility necessary to respond quickly to any possible delay in our organizational structure," said Denis Choquette, CEO of Onmark Group. "Shipment Visibility gives us that ability to be able to see events in the supply chain as they occur, be alerted if they don't occur and receive real-time feedback from trading partners to better manage our operations."
Shipment Visibility allows Onmark to manage shipment information on an exception basis by predetermining the events it wants the system to monitor so corrective action can be taken as soon as the problem arises. In addition, the system will alert an Onmark administrator of the event via e-mail, pager, PDA or their personalized supply chain command center. When fully operational, Onmark's e-marketplace will be able to handle hundreds of thousands of messages and transactions per day across multiple platforms.
"We developed Viewlocity's visibility solutions to allow innovative companies like Onmark to have essential shipment information at their fingertips at all times," said Viewlocity CEO Cronin. "Better visibility strengthens the relationship between Onmark, their customers and their trading partners by streamlining the supply chain."
Onmark Group, headquartered in Columbia, Md., delivers Web-based leasing and financing solutions. The company's soon-to-be-released Web site is to be a global marketplace for leasing, financing and procurement accessible in real-time.
