Kroger selects Retek's for replenishment

Minneapolis, MN  March 30, 2001  Retail applications provider Retek announced Wednesday that The Kroger Co. grocery chain has selected Retek's suite of supply chain replenishment solutions.


"After an extensive review of the products and capabilities available, we selected Retek to provide us with the key pieces of information infrastructure to support our supply chain replenishment efforts," said Michael Heschel, Kroger executive vice president and chief information officer.


With a wide variety of product, razor-thin margins and perishables, the grocery industry is particularly fertile ground for optimized supply chain replenishment. Retek says that it engineers its supply chain solutions to deliver tight supply chain control to improve inventory performance.


Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kroger operated 2,354 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under nearly two dozen banners as of the end of the fourth quarter. Kroger also operates 789 convenience stores, 398 fine jewelry stores, 77 supermarket fuel centers and 42 food processing plants.
