CommerceRoute appoints former Intel exec as CEO

Emeryville, CA  April 16, 2001  Data integration appliance provider CommerceRoute today announced the appointment of Scott Powers as president and CEO.


Powers joined CommerceRoute on January 15, 2001 from his position as site controller and general manager at Intel overseeing the operations, finance and administration of the ubiquitous processor-maker's manufacturing facility in Costa Rica.


Erik Shirley, chairman of CommerceRoute's board of directors, had been acting president and chief executive officer until Powers' appointment.


"We are confident that Scott's leadership and interdisciplinary experience while at Intel give him the skills necessary to lead CommerceRoute to the next phase of our company's development," said Shirley.


"CommerceRoute has a unique opportunity to establish itself as the leading supplier of integration appliances in the fastest-growing technology sector in the next 10 years," said Powers. In his 11 years with Intel, Powers held positions in finance and general management in that company's Costa Rica, Oregon, Washington and Arizona facilities. Powers earned his B.S. in finance and M.B.A degrees from Arizona State University.


Founded in 1998, CommerceRoute is a provider of integration appliances, a class of products that enables organizations to exchange information between applications, departments and external trading partners regardless of platform or protocol.
