Aerospace portal ends countdown, launches operations

June 19, 2001 B2B e-commerce company Izodia today announced that TRW Aeronautical Systems has launched its e-business portal, AeroVantix, using Izodia InTrade as their strategic e-commerce platform. The portal launch is the result of a multi-million dollar investment by TRW Aeronautical Systems, designed to make them more customer responsive.

AeroVantix is designed to ensure TRW Aeronautical Systems' customers have 24 x 7 access to the company and its supply base, as well as providing benefits including reduced time to market of new products, a collaborative environment, and simplified business processes. AeroVantix is available to all TRW Aeronautical Systems customers and suppliers at no cost and is now being rolled out across the company. The portal offers buy-side and sell-side transactions, engineering collaboration, and supply chain management through a single log-in.

We listened and talked to many companies in the industry, and then decided to move forward and implement a fully integrated, benefits-derived solution that should significantly improve our service and performance to all our customers, said Ken Maciver, president and CEO, TRW Aeronautical Systems. e-Business fundamentally changes the way you do business and can streamline processes if properly deployed. We are a long-term player in the industry and see this launch as a significant investment in our future.

TRW Aeronautical Systems already has more than 80 customers and suppliers using parts of AeroVantix including Asiana Airlines, China Airlines, FR HiTemp, Dallas Airmotive, GE Accessory Services, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Co. (HAECO), Langford Lodge, Patonair and Turner Aviation.

TRW Aeronautical Systems selected Izodia as the founding technology partner in August 2000 following a rigorous selection process involving most of the leading industry players. Izodia was selected due to its agility, readiness to tailor its solution, understanding of lean redesign principles, modular configurable solution, and provision for compelling financial payback on investment.

Izodia CEO Tony Stepanski commented, The AeroVantix portal is an example of the power of e-Commerce in adding value to both customers and suppliers, and Izodia InTrade is an integral component in creating that value. The launch of TRW's portal demonstrates how responsive the Izodia InTrade platform is to the needs of companies adopting a service-focused manufacturing strategy.
