Atlanta August 27, 2001 Today at PeopleSoft Connect 2001, PeopleSoft introduced its PeopleSoft 8 Enterprise Service Automation (ESA) suite. In his keynote address, PeopleSoft President and CEO Craig Conway underscored the company's significant market opportunity with its new ESA solution. Although formally introduced today, PeopleSoft has secured more than 80 ESA customers worldwide in the past two quarters.
"Service spend is hard to manage because it's a combination of human capital management, financial management and procurement," said Craig Conway. "PeopleSoft's leadership in these areas allowed us to deliver the only integrated suite for automating and managing service spend PeopleSoft 8 ESA."
While companies have spent billions of dollars optimizing their manufacturing supply chains, most haven't invested in optimizing services. According to the Center for Advanced Purchasing Studies, 54 percent of corporate purchasing spend goes towards buying, managing or selling services. Yet services remain one of the most uncontrolled costs on a company's income statement.
According to the company, PeopleSoft 8 ESA optimizes the service process from services procurement, through project and resource management, to service delivery. The suite includes the following applications: Services Procurement, Resource Management, Contracts, Projects, Expenses, Mobile Time and Expense Palm, Travel, Staffing Front Office, Pay/Bill Management, Workforce Analytics, and Financial Insight Analytics.
"BEA is focused on streamlining business processes and optimizing its assets," said Rhonda Hocker, CIO of BEA Systems, Inc. "PeopleSoft ESA will allow us to gain visibility into and control over our services spend to maximize revenues."
