Houston August 30, 2001 EC Outlook, which automates collaborative commerce activities for Global 1000 companies and their trading partners, has licensed its e-business collaboration technologies to Latin American-based Newcom IP Solutions Corporation. EC Outlook's Smart Document Interchange (SDI) server software and Electronic Order Management (EOM) application will be marketed by Newcom to businesses throughout Central and South America.
EC Outlook's technology will serve as the integration engine for Newcom IP Solution's launch of a private trading partner network that will enable all suppliers, regardless of size or technological capability, to electronically exchange critical business information.
"Newcom IP Solutions is dedicated to providing Latin American companies with leading-edge technologies that are cost-effective and can help them compete internationally," said Ernesto Degenhart, executive director of Newcom IP Solutions. "EC Outlook's easy-to-use business process automation technologies are ideal, since they support rapid adoption by a broad range of trading partners of varying technical capabilities without requiring additional software purchases."
Newcom IP Solutions is implementing a business model by alliances with corporate partners including Hewlett Packard Corp., technology consultant/supplier Grupo Tecnetron (a Hewlett-Packard distributor), and the regional offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Newcom, which has broadband and connectivity capability throughout Central and South America, will serve as the lead in coordinating the resources of the other alliance companies.
Future plans for the Guatemala-based company involve deploying EC Outlook integration technology and applications to create three more supplier-sponsored private marketplaces with a potential trading community of 4,500 companies.
"This is an excellent opportunity for EC Outlook to establish a strong position in a largely untapped market that has tremendous growth potential," said Dwight Holmberg, EC Outlook VP, international. "The opportunities for channel sales and cross-selling via the Newcom relationship are very significant."
