Atlanta January 16, 2002 In a bid to streamline domestic transportation and global trade logistics operations, Logility, a B2B collaborative commerce solution provider, and International Trade Logistics solutions provider Precision Software announced an alliance.
Under the terms of the joint agreement, Precision Software's TRA/X solution and Logility Voyager Solutions will be combined to address the need for strategic business processes that can be executed on a global scale, such as trade compliance and content, planning, warehousing and international shipping.
According a statement released by the companies, TRA/X not only minimizes the risk in global shipping by automating trade compliance of government and local regulations, but it also automates the process by providing such functionality as international documentation and freight costing. In addition, TRA/X will provide Logility customers increased visibility of total landed costs for all global shipments and movements throughout the supply chain.
Mike Edenfield, Logility's president and CEO, described the global trade environment and discussed the need for improved logistics operations: "Global trade logistics requirements are quite distinct from domestic transportation needs due to diverse economic, geographic and regulatory requirements. With the current global environment combined with the high risk and complexity involved in global shipping, companies are taking a new look at the mechanics of their global logistics operations.
Logility Voyager Solutions is a suite of collaborative commerce solutions that was created to enable suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers to optimize activities along their respective supply chains and collaborate with trading partners.
Included in its Voyager Suite is Voyager Transportation Planning and Management, which enables transportation planning and management including rating, routing, carrier selection, load building/optimization, load tendering, track and trace, and freight audit for North America.
