DALLAS April 5, 2002 Supply chain behemoth i2 Technologies has announced that Sam Nakane has been named chief operating officer. Nakane joined the supply chain management company in March 2001 as chairman, president and CEO of the company's Japan operations, and as executive vice president of i2 Technologies, Inc.
"Sam Nakane is a proven leader who in a single year has had a remarkable impact on the operations of i2 Japan and on the i2 executive team," said Greg Brady, i2 CEO. "Sam brings three decades of success in all facets of global business operations to this position. His management expertise will allow him to build on the work we've done over the past year to further improve our operational performance. He is committed to customer success and possesses the ability to listen to our customers, understand their business problems and work with our Development, Consulting and Product marketing teams to deliver solutions that bring them value."
Under Nakane's leadership, i2 Japan 2001 revenues grew more than 115 percent in local currency, and the i2 Development Center was opened in Tokyo in Fall 2001. As COO, Nakane will have responsibility for the company's worldwide Development, Consulting and Product Marketing organizations. Nakane will retain oversight of the company's Japan operations, and continue to lead i2 Japan until a successor is named. The appointment of Nakane will allow Brady to focus greater attention on the company's sales and marketing execution.
"I am pleased to be given this tremendous opportunity with i2. We have worked hard to improve our operational efficiency over the past year, as a first step towards a return to profitability," said Nakane. "I am energized by our renewed focus on the customer experience. I am personally committed to improving that experience and look forward to working closely with our employees and our customers on projects that can achieve efficiencies and increase productivity across the value chain."
Nakane joined i2 a year ago from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he had been the managing partner for Japan and the B2E (business-to-enterprise) leader for the Asia Pacific Region since December 1999.
