Pantellos Adds Contract Labor Management

Utility e-marketplace teams with Workbrain to address project-based labor

Tempe, AZ May 22, 2002 Pantellos, a utility and energy industry e-marketplace, today rolled out a contract labor-management solution designed to help companies reduce the costs associated with managing project-based labor.

Two utility companies reportedly are already implementing the solution, Time Ticket Management (TTM), which Pantellos developed through an alliance with Workbrain, a provider of employee relationship management (ERM) solutions.

"The flexibility that Time Ticket Management provides for managing labor data for project-based workers distinguishes it from other time-tracking systems," said John Hebert, manager of sourcing at Pantellos customer Entergy Corp. "This system offers an excellent solution for streamlining contingent labor management processes. Implementing Time Ticket Management will help us save both time and money, ultimately allowing us to allocate additional resources to delivering excellent customer service."

Projects and major outages require utility companies to spend significant capital on contract labor. Large-scale projects and associated supplier alliances often incur extensive labor and material charges from multiple suppliers across different business units and locations. As a result, it is often difficult to implement efficient administrative processes and effectively manage contract relationships.

Pantellos said its solution will help companies automate the calculation of rates, materials and project expenses, thereby clarifying labor charges. The solution also automates audit checks against predetermined service agreements and simplifies the invoice cycle by eliminating the need to match paper records to supplier invoices, according to the solution provider.

TTM integrates with accounts payable, payroll and work management systems, and it establishes a Web-based repository of information managed by both supplier and utility companies, giving contractors and suppliers self-service access to certain information.

"Pantellos and Workbrain developed TTM in response to our trading parties' requests for a service to help them effectively manage the labor and materials capture ranging from archival of wage rates to invoice processing for project-based work," said Duane Selby, Pantellos vice president of professional services and process solutions.

Based on Workbrain ERM 3.0, TTM is available as a hosted solution to trading parties and their contracted suppliers of craft labor and outage workers.

Pantellos' also offers workforce process management, through an agreement with Comensura, and workforce automation, with provider itiliti. These solutions focus on procurement and management of temporary workforce in areas such as information technology, administrative/clerical and engineering/professional. Time Ticket Management is geared more toward project-based labor such as construction, operations and maintenance, engineering/design and vegetation management.
