Software to Do Heavy Lifting at Distributor

Hercules Hydraulics looks to increase inventory turns with IFS software

Chicago July 2, 2002 Florida-based Hercules Hydraulics is set to use business applications from Swedish software company IFS in a bid to increase inventory turnover and decrease operating expenses at its seal and hydraulic component distributorship.

Hercules Hydraulics is a global distributor of hydraulic and pneumatic seals, seal repair kits and hydraulic components for mobile and industrial hydraulic equipment. Its United States and Canadian warehouses carry more than 65,000 line items in 100,000 square feet of distribution facilities.

Hercules has purchased IFS components for distribution, financials, document management, customer relationship management, costing, shop orders, balanced scorecard and business performance. It will deploy the software at its Clearwater, Fla., headquarters and at three Canadian warehouses.

"We expect the software to help us increase inventory turnover and accuracy, to further decrease operating expenses, and to streamline financial closings," said Russ Brown, Hercules Hydraulics president.

Brown added that the expandability of the IFS solution offered the hydraulics company a "future-proof" system. "With its component architecture, we can easily extend the software to other company segments, and with its portal technology we can connect and collaborate with our partners, customers and suppliers," he said.

IFS develops and supplies component-based business applications for medium and large enterprises.
