San Francisco September 20, 2002 Software company Intershop Communications this week rolled out the latest version of its procurement solution for large enterprises, adding improved support for supplier relationship management and better integration with SAP-based catalogs.
Intershop says version 4.0 of its Enfinity Procurement Solution can help enterprises boost the efficiency of electronic ordering processes through centralized management of multiple procurement initiatives, including the procurement systems of global subsidiaries. The solution address purchasing needs ranging from general supplies to production materials to services.
According to the provider, the supplier relationship management functionality in this new version enables enterprises to integrate key suppliers into the company's procurement system, with the option of letting the suppliers set up and manage their own catalogs, exchange orders directly and participate in online request-for-quote processes.
Built-in support for the Open Catalog Interface standard means that customers using an SAP procurement solution can also take advantage of these supplier relationship management capabilities.
In addition, Version 4.0 offers marketplace management functionality, allowing enterprises to centralize and integrate different supplier relationship management models employed by various subsidiaries or business units on a single software platform. Intershop asserts that this centralized management of multiple procurement initiatives can deliver cost savings related to hardware, software, implementation, integration and ongoing system administration.
