NASA Expands with PTC

Space agency increases deployment of provider's product lifecycle management solutions

Needham, MA December 19, 2002 The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is expanding its implementation of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions from provider PTC, signing a new multimillion-dollar, multiyear order for the applications, according to the software company.

PTC shipped its Pro/ENGINEER to NASA at the end of September. The deployment expands on previous implementations of the solution at the agency, which also uses PTC's Windchill software solutions.

NASA uses Pro/ENGINEER software to integrate and automate the majority of the product development processes throughout its installations nationwide.

Sites where the agency uses the software include Johnson Space Center and Kennedy Space Center, as well as various research facilities and space centers.

"NASA puts 'products first,' placing a heavy emphasis on products and especially product quality," said Paul Cunningham, executive vice president for worldwide sales at PTC. Cunningham said the software helps NASA maintain high quality standards while keeping budgets under control.
