San Carlos, CA — March 26, 2003 — DemandTec Inc., a provider of demand-based management (DBM) software for price and promotion optimization, announced today that RadioShack selected the DemandTec 3 software platform to set pricing and promotions at its more than 7,200 stores.
After extensive evaluation, RadioShack chose the provider, and the agreement calls for RadioShack to optimize merchandising decisions across all of its specialty items.
Evelyn Follit, senior vice president and chief information officer of RadioShack, said, "The people behind [DemandTec's] product have extensive retail experience and an understanding of consumer demand. This experience comes through loud and clear in the science, feature set and overall functionality of DemandTec 3."
RadioShack, one of the largest consumer electronics retailers in the United States, is the latest customer for DemandTec, which recently announced installations of its platform for Longs Drug Stores Inc., H.E. Butt Grocery Co. and D&W Food Centers Inc.
"RadioShack is renowned for its high levels of customer service, convenient locations and extensive selection of products. DemandTec software will help enable them to manage the optimal set of prices and promotions to meet their goals for sales and profit," said Dan Fishback, president and CEO of DemandTec. He added that the platform would provide RadioShack insight into the prices and assortment their customers want most, and that understanding, hopefully, would give them a healthy advantage over their competitors.
