Downers Grove, IL April 3, 2003 Metropolitan Logistic Services is set to use a Web-based supply chain solution from NTE to automate its transportation planning, management and execution services.
Paterson, N.J.-based Metropolitan is a full service provider of logistics and transportation management solutions. In an effort to maintain their competitive edge as well as scale operations without incurring additional overhead or assets, the company conducted an extensive search for a supply chain solution to automate its transportation services.
After a competitive evaluation, Metropolitan chose NTE's Manage and Trade solutions, a system that NTE said can be implemented quickly and can support the information technology (IT) demands of Metropolitan's growing client base.
NTE Manage will automate Metropolitan's process of identifying available carrier, route and mode options, and enable accurate comparisons of cost and service elements that meet the business requirements of the company's customers and carriers. This service can help reduce shipping costs, enhance communications, improve delivery timing and reliability, and reduce order-to-case cycle times, according to NTE.
The Trade solution will execute these business rules in an automated manner, requiring no human intervention.
"NTE Manage...will allow us to completely automate our shipment planning, management and freight accounting processes," said Joe Mangino, Jr., Metropolitan Logistics president. "We will be able to eliminate many of our current manual processes completely and automate our transportation business processes, allowing our logistics professionals to focus on improving customer service and growing the business."
