Motorola Eyes CPFR

Implements Manugistics solution for collaborative, planning, forecasting and replenishment

Rockville, MD — April 9, 2003 — Motorola's Personal Communications Sector has deployed a supply chain solution from Manugistics in a bid to more closely align manufacturing operations with global product demand.

Motorola has deployed Manugistics' Collaborative, Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) solutions, according to the solution provider. CPFR is an emerging protocol designed to allow trading partners to work together collaboratively to reduce costs while improving customer service.

By enabling the controlled exchange of real-time data, CPFR promises to allow organizations to more effectively anticipate demand, track inventory, monitor sell-through, identify market changes and respond accordingly.

In implementing Manugistics' CPFR solutions, Motorola aims to collaborate directly with customers and suppliers to improve forecast accuracy, enhance customer service, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and jointly manage promotions and new product introductions.
